I've really enjoyed the High Seas part of this. The naval battles are very very kewl. And getting triangle trade to work was fun. I'm only surprised that you didn't have sugar->rum->slaves.

Also, are you a Bruce Sterling reader? One of his early books was a collection of linked short stories called Shaper/Mechanist.
