  1. Cavern Entrance
    Two groups of burly goblins check each goblin miner that passes through. They seem to be making sure no one smuggles anything out.
    These caverns are run by two goblin "gangs": Swiftpaw and Longnail. The leaders pat down the miners to make sure they don't smuggle anything out, as well as to keep an eye on the other gang.
    Longnail miner: "Dirty Swiftpaws, always stinkin' up the place."
    Swiftpaw miner: "Yeah, Longnails got the goods. Who needs ta bathe?"
    Guild guard: "Break it up miners! Now's not the place."
    Guild guard: Yeah? Whaddya want?
    1. Why were those two miners fighting?
    Well, the Longnails and Swiftpaws got a pretty stiff competition going. Whoever gets the most loot this month spends the evening at The Sweet Lady. Motivation.
    2. So, you run the mines, huh?
    Heh. Yeah, you could say so. We try to keep the gangs clearing out the tunnels on a tight schedule.

  2. Swiftpaw Mine
    Several miners plug away at the cavern wall. Their tunics have a Swiftpaw patch roughly sewn on.
    "Shovel sixteen tons and what do you get?"
    "Knock it off Clyde."
    "Another day older . . . "
    "I mean it Clyde."
    "You're no fun."
    A small crevice contains 24gp and a suit of Plate Mail.

  3. Swiftpaw Mine
    Angry goblin voices echo off the walls.
    "I say we go over and stick an axe in their skulls!"
    "Now, Fronk, just settle down."
    "The little bastards stole my claim!"
    "You know you'll be hoisting ale with 'em in Stonemeet tonight."
    "Maybe so, but that doesn't excuse it."

  4. Longnail Mine
    Large goblin miners, their Longnail symbols on their sleeves, work the mines.


  5. Longnail Mine
    Immediately outside the entrance to this cavern is a large, nervous looking goblin miner.
    Doogle: Say, friend. We seem to have unearthed a little something during our digging. If you could dispatch it, we'd be much obliged.
    1. (GRUBDEAD=0) I'll see what I can do.
    2. (GRUBDEAD=0) If there's a reward, I think I can do something about it.
    If you get it done, we'll give you what gold we have.
    3. (GRUBDEAD=1) Okay. Where's my reward?
    Here's your gold. (+200gp, GRUBDEAD=2)
    4. (GRUBDEAD=1) The beasts will no longer disturb you. Go in peace.
    You have our deepest thanks! (+good, +100xp, GRUBDEAD=2)
    5. Bye.
    Inside is a pair of rot grubs and several dead miners. Killing the pair will result in a reward of 200 gp.

  6. Abandoned Mine
    This huge cavern has apparently been completely mined out, though smaller side passages channel the echo of distant picks.


  7. Flip and Flap
    Two goblins lick their lips and await your arrival.
    Flip: (FLIPQUEST=1) Hey there, would you mind taking us up on a little offer? The competition around here has gotten a bit distracting and we'd like them removed.
    1. What is it you want?
    Kill the goblins across the hall - Gnuter and Glib. We'll reward you quite well!
    1. Very well.
    Excellent. I'll listen for the screams.
    2. Kill an innocent? In your dreams, dog.
    Your loss. Just keep it quiet or I'll slit your throats too.
    3. I'll need some time to think about it.
    Don't take too long.
    2. (GUNTERDEAD=1 && FLIPQUEST=1) Well, he's dead. My reward?
    Wonderful doing business with you! (give +1 Ring of Protection, +evil, FLIPQUEST=2)
    3. I'll talk to you later.
    They wish the player to kill the miners in the west cavern. If they do, they'll be rewarded with a +1 Ring of Protection.
    Killing Flip will set FLIPDEAD=1.

  8. Gnuter and Glib
    A couple goblin miners hack away and the loose rock above.
    Gnuter: Waddya want?
    1. (FLIPQUEST=1) It seems that Flip, the miner across the hall, wants you dead.
    What? Thanks for tellin' me. Now, if you return the favor and knock off Flip, I'll give you an even better reward!
    I'll be right back, then.
    The bunch of you are crazy. Leave me out of this.
    2. (FLIPDEAD=1 && FLIPQUEST=1) Well, he's dead. My reward?
    Wonderful doing business with you! (give +1 Longbow, FLIPQUEST=2)
    3. Nothing. See ya.
    If the player tells of Flip and Flaps offer, they'll offer a better reward if the player kills them. If they do, they'll get a +1 Longbow.
    Killing Gnuter will set GNUTERDEAD=1.

  9. Necromancer
    A cleric stands here, his heavy robes out of place among the miners.
    Amahn: (AMAHNQUEST=0) Excuse me. I'm seeking a special reagent for my studies. Unfortunately, it happens to be the thigh bone of a greater ghoul. To the north, you'll find a pack of ghouls. If you take care of them, I'll reward you well.
    (AMAHNQUEST=1) I'll just wait here until you're done.
    (AMAHNQUEST=2) Eh? Still alive? I suppose I must kill you myself. It is so hard to find untainted bones this close to the Source. (attacks)
    1. I would be happy to help you.
    Wonderful. I'll just wait here.(AMAHNQUEST=1, +good)
    2. I'll do it for a price.
    Very well. I shall pay you 500 gold when you return.

    Set AMAHNQUEST=2 when ghouls are killed

    He holds a +1 Frost Mace (+1, +1 frost damage) and 50gp.

  10. Beetle Lair
    Several fire beetles, possibly accompanied by a stag beetle, make their lair here.

  11. Spider Cache
    A large spider guards a large egg sack.
    Inside the egg sack are several gems, including a Tiger's Eye:
    Long sought for their inner beauty, this Tiger's Eye is quite large. The back of the gem is faceted, as if it were once inset in a larger object.

  12. Ghouls
    Claw marks and rotting bones mark the floor.
    Several ghouls, including a Greater Ghoul, are here.
    "The food walks to us. Good joke by Amahn. Come to us food!"
    Set AMAHNQUEST=2 when ghouls are killed

  13. Hilt room
    In the center of this room is a pile of debris, evidently due to recent movement in the ceiling.
    The hilt of Firestorm can be found here. Approaching the center of this room releases several shadows.
